Hello J.
Have just
tried the new mobile phone number (***** ******?) but nothing asked me for a
message so couldn't leave one. It just rang for quite a wuile and then
stopped. Perhaps you are already fast asleep after a hard day!
Very
interested to hear about the interview and I think you made a wise decision to
start in a trainee position. You can alwayswork up to something
supervisory when you have more experience with that particular employer.
Hope all goes well with the housesitting and all other departments of
your life.
We made
the church look very "Harvesty" on Saturday and it was a good service
with an especially good sermon from JM.
We have
had a swarm of tree-surgeons here today. The walnut tree has had its
hair t rimmed quite severely; one apple tree practically felled and the other
one severely pruned. All needed doing and has generally opened up the
garden. Catherine and the children return tomorrow (Tuesday) having put
Iain on his plane for Oz tonight. We hope to go to Longleat one day this
week. M. goes away on Saturday and I shall probably be in London
Sunday-Wednesday with all the grandchildren (D & R on half-term next week).
C and children go back to Oz on Wednesday evening of next week.
Think
that'a about all my news. Will have another go at the phone number in a
day or so.
Love - S.

Hi J.
Yes all
is well here thank you. we have just had 3 days in East Anglia - Norfolk Broads
and Suffolk Coast which was lovely.
Glad all
is going well with you. Have you found a new place to live yet or are you still
housesitting?

Dear J.
Tried the
mobile again last night (Sat) but the Voicemail doesnt like me! Just the
same as last time - rang for quite while and then just stopped. So here
I am in print again.
Thanks
for news sent on the 15th - hope the ChocolateFest didn't have you on the sick
list for too long!! We were out on Wednesday evening. Explorer
John Pilkington gave a very interesting talk with slides about a trek he
did across the Sahara to the salt mines. On Thursday Catherine and I took
the children to Longleat. Lost both windscreen squirters off the hired
car to the monkeys, but luckily we got replacements from the Ford dealer at
Winnall that evening so that she could return the car complete the following
day. Longleat highlight this time was a family of four lion cubs -
really gorgeous.
My
sister's twin grandsons arrived on Friday - great excitement all round the
family. They were just under 6 lbs each, Thomas and Harry. All
going well so far but I think they will be in hospital for several more days
yet. That evening we went to the Show Dinner and then M. left for his
trip to Turkey at 4 o'clock the following morning. I spent most of
yesterday washing, ironing and collecting together things which the children
had left behind!
They are
in London now until they leave for Oz on Wednesday evening. I am going up
there tomorrrow (Monday) to have the last couple of days with them all.
Thats
about all my news for now.
Love - S.
Dear J.
What a
lovely email! Congratulations on getting the job - it sounds a wonderful
opportunity. It is SO good to hear you sounding so happy.
I am so
sorry I had to get off the phone quickly the other night. M. did phone
and all is well with him. He comes home tomorrow evening. I also
heard very late on Thursday evening that Catherine and the children were safely
home.
Hope the
sailing went well today. Enjoy your holiday between jobs. All the
very best to you J.

It's
lovely weather here. We are off sailing shortly.
I have
had a busy and wonderful weekend. I have landed the job I wanted.
I will be
trained for a management job, I am still astonished by the salary.
I am
looking forward to starting on 12th of November, I finish my current job on
thursday, it will be sad to leave as I have been very happy, so I will have a
rest and holiday between jobs. My mum and dad have kidnapped me for a while as
well, so I am a lucky girl!
We were
up till 00:30 this morning, and my interview was at 10am, so I hope to get a
fairly early night in preparation for another busy day tomorrow, but I would
like to ring and say hi later.

Dear J.,
Darcy sui
transformed – well almost! My wonderful dog trainer Patsy did a home visit and
sorted out the owner – it never is the dog’s fault. Darcy was high on
adrenalin, hyperactive and overanxious (aren’t we all!). He is rapidly becoming
a calmer dog, and his lovely personality is coming through.
I
hope all is well with you, I have pulled a muscle in my back, but otherwise all
is fine here.

Dear J.,
I
am glad you got home OK, and that you are enjoying the rest of your holiday. I
expect you are about to start your new job now, I’ll be thinking of you and pR.ing
for you, although I can’t promise to be pR.ing at the unearthly hour you have

We loved

Darcy has
done his back in again, chasing a springer spaniel called Bonsai. I had to lift

a good job he has found a home with me.

Dear J.
Thanks
for all your news. Been thinking about you in the new job this week and
pleased to hear that things were OK up to Day 3. Hope all is continuing
well. I think it takes a few weeks to get really settled into any new
job.
Yes. we
have had some really heavy frost this week - one morning it looked almost like
snow!
Today is
"warmer". We have Daniel and Rebecca here this weekend.
So far the programme has been homework, teaching Rebecca to knit, sweeping up
leaves with Grandpa etc etc. We plan a walk on Winnall Moors this
afternoon and this evening we are going to see The Pajama Game at the Theatre
Royal.
I can
well see that you have a big decision to make about Christmas - but only you
can make it! Of course we will be pleased to see you here on Christmas
Eve, if Christmas at the Rectory wins, but you mustn't let that influence you
decision. A family Christmas in Jersey also sounds tempting. (I'm
sure there will be plenty to eat wherever you decide to be!!)
Had a big
public meeting in the Hall on Thursday about the proposed closure of the Post
Office. 187 people there - many of whom spoke very well in defence of
our P>O> and against the chaos at Weeke. Two gentlemen form the GPO
on the platform - with Clive who chaired the meeting brilliantly.
I doubt it will make any difference to the decision form on high - but at
least we have tried.
Take
care.
Love - S.

Dear J.,
Of course
you can have a Hampshire calendar for Christmas.
Darcy
has displaysia in both hips (is that how you spell it), he also has retained
testicles, I think his back end must have been made last thing on a Friday
afternoon when the parts were running out!
We are
being upbeat, he has anti inflammatory pills, and I am giving him fish oil
supplements, but I cannot stop him having fun and running and jumping, he gets
cross if I do.
After the
initial disappointment, I feel that he was meant for me, another home may not
have loved him so much.

sorry, have you been made redundant from the old job or the new one? Surley it
cannot be the new one as they have only just appointed you and wouldn’t be

Hi J.,
It was
lovely to hear from you. It does sound like you’ve been on a bit of a roller
coaster emotionally! Having your friendship with Jill and George end would be a
very big change.
There
have been some very nasty viruses around leaving people feeling down and very
tired. It’s a shame you got one – you didn’t need that!
You
asked am I able to advise you still. I guess the answer is not formally as I am
not your counsellor any more.
But we
have known each other for a long while now and informally ( = not as part of a
counselling relationship) you are welcome to any thoughts I have that may be
useful.
I
guess that “feeling strange and out of control” is not surprising: you haven’t
been well, you have had some big life changes, and I think that your adoptive
dad guessing some of your past would feel a big shock, and that him talking to
the people who employed you would feel very scary: you have always felt scared
of other people intervening – rightly so, as so many of them in the past made
decisions which damaged you. I think it might be important for you to let your
adoptive dad know that. Explain to him how important it is for you to feel in
control of your life so as to feel safe. Explain that he needs to check with
you each time before he does something, however helpful he thinks it might be –
like you and I have always done. Then you can feel safe.
So
many people walked all over your feelings, didn’t respect you and hurt you.
Now, in all your relationships, you need to feel and see that respect for you
and your right to make the decisions in your life. Your right to decide who is
given any information about you (because giving information is giving a part of
you - and too many people in the past just took parts of you without you having
chosen for that to happen).
I’m
pretty sure that anything that anyone does, that you don’t know about first, is
going to take you to a very wobbly place where you do feel “strange and out of
control” and as tho your personality is confused: That’s a normal response for
someone who has been hurt the way you have. In the past people did awful
things without your consent. it’s ok and normal for you to need to know and
agree to what anyone now wants to do. However much what they want to do is
logically helpful and caring.
It’s
not surprising you feel anxious and unsettled... I think it will settle as you
settle into your new job, begin to feel better from the virus and talk things
through with your adoptive dad so he can understand what you need to feel safe.
Anyone who loves you will be happy to hear that and respect it. Sometimes
people just so much want to help that they forget to stop and join up how the
way they are helping will feel like to the other person. Once they understand
they can see how important it is.
Hope
Nicky is enjoying himself and that he doesn’t stay away too long… His
cheekiness lightens things up for you!
I reckon
jelly beans definitely have a therapeutic effect... because they tell you
you’re cared for…
Best
wishes,
LD

I am
still happy in Jersey.
I have
just lost a new job, got a good payout and found another job.
I have
also had a bad virus that has left me tired, weak and on antibiotics.
My life
has been through some huge changes.
My
friendship with Jill and George ended.
My
adoptive dad guessed some of my past and wants me to talk about it, that was a
huge shock.
He also
talked to the people who employed me, who I've just left, that was also a
shock, he means well, but I am very anxious and unsettled at the moment.
Any
advice on keeping calm? Nicky has taken himself off to a health farm in France,

I feel
very strange and out of control, as if I have a personality disorder or
something. My mum got me jelly beans, do you think that will cure me?

Dear J.,
Many
thanks for the pics they are delightful, I will try to pass them on as well.
I see Darcy has a rival in taking the place apart – its called ‘having
fun’ –now I understand! He got my purse last night, ate the leather and
poohed bright blue this morning, at leats he had the decency not to chew the
notes, or my switch card, but the ate part of the Homebase card, and ending up
with all the cash in his bed. Still he is lovely, and gorgeous and handsome and
clever…..

Hello J.
Still no
luck with your phone. Don't know where the last week has gone. I
hop that by now you are feeling much better and the antibiotics have done their
work successfully. It is good to know that you have such supportive
friends who look after you.
We had a
very happy couple of days with Lorna in Bath. Went to the theatre to see
a Michael Frayn farce "Donkey's Years" which was hilarious.
With no
heating in the church last Sunday am, we duly celebrated St. C.with a B enefice
Service in the evening - several electric heaters having been on for several
hours beforehand. Partway through the service, just as JM said
something like "The Feast of Christ the King and our Patronal Festival -
what an excellent day", there was a bang the all the lights went out!!
All heaters were disconnected and lights came on again.

During
that gap I have learned that our email connection has been switched off BEFORE
the relevant modem and loading CD have been received here to complete the
switch over to a new provider. SO heaven knows when (or even IF) this
will be sent. Both M. and I have been speaking to a gentleman,
probably in Bangalore, for some time and we are both very cross!!
I will
now consign this to the Outbox and maybe try the phone again sometime soon.
Meanwhile, I DO hope that you are really better now. Love -

Hello
again,
Glad to
know that you are slowly making progress and hope the beastly pain will soon be
a thing of the past. Also pleased to hear that you have some gardening
work - hope it doesnt hurt too much - that there is another possible interview
later.
The new
modem and loading CD arrived Sat. and we spent a long time getting all that
sorted - but we did it! But it needed a couple of long sessions on the
phone with Elizabeth for her to discover what needed changing in order to be
able to send emails as well as recieve them. She finally cracked it and
(at the time of writing) emails are flowing both ways. Long may this
continue!
Went to
Guildford this morning to meet Victoria's 6-week old twins. Gorgeous!
Just back from playing silly games at Flowerdown and must get on with
mulling wine and making sandwiches for WI Christmas meeting this evening.
Take
care,
Love - S.

Sounds
good to me. See you at ***** Sunday and/or the Carol Service, if you've
not been in touch before. We must arrange a "teapot" or a meal
sometime during you visit.
Bon
Voyage!
Love -
S.

RE: Christmas mail
Hi,
The plan
is that I will come over on Friday night, but will have to come back to Jersey
on Saturday 22nd, as that is the last fast ferry back before christmas, and if
that doesnt sail due to the weather, the last slow boat is on the 23rd.
so I will
be able to be at ***** sunday and the carols and see everyone before coming
back here for christmas.

Dear J.,
That
sounds fine to me, you are welcome to use us as your base, hopefully the
catering will be fairly elastic to accommodate your movements!
Yes,
the Christingles are over, except for the school one next Tuesday, but L. and C.carol
services are on 16th AND S.’s is on 23rd, all at 6.00pm, S.’s is of course
followed by Eve of Eve at L..
I
hope the dental appt went OK!
Love,
JM

Hi,
A plan is
forming! What I hope to do now is come over next weekend, and stay for the
week, until 23rd or 24th, this is very much relying on the ferries, as they are
on the winter timetable and also not running at the moment due to the weather.
Anne emailed me about ***** sunday, and Red Lodge is going ahead as normal on
24th. It was a tough decision, but I have to spend christmas day with my family
here in Jersey.
I have
continued to work through the weather as I have loads of strimming to do, but
the strimmer occasionally takes off in the wind and I end up on Sark!
When I
come over, the Romsey lot may want me for a night, and I hope to go and see ****
and family as well.
O. has to
be out of bounds as it is not safe, but I will go to see J. and hope that I am
invisible. It will be lovely to Join in the carols and things, but have I
missed the christingles and c/L. carols or am I not looking?
I have a
lovely dental appointment tomorrow, the weather is going to be aweful and we
are delivering christmas service leaflets for St. A’s.
God
bless,
J. x

Hi,
Happy new
year.
I hope
that you had a wonderful christmas.

S.:
Yes, we
had alovely Christmas with E. and family. Lots of present opening and
much eating and drinking. On Boxing day we, and lots of their friends,
walked in Kew Gardens and then had a mid-afternoon lunch at some friends'
house. That evening we took our lot the Cinderella at Richmond - great
fun. On Thursday M. and I took a light lunch to the aged Aunt who lives
in Wembley and then returned home to L.. Since then we have been
"pottering" - beginning various projects around the house; HedgeEnd ******
on Friday morning which was ghastly; a very nice Benefice service at S.
yesterday - the last service as a 3-parish benefice.
Tonight
we shall be dining at Glendale. All the very best of good wishes for
2008 J. to you and your Jersey family.
HAPPY NEW
YEAR !!!!!!!
